An interesting week in aviation so far, with the sighting of an S-92 over the skies of Syria once again and Russian Helicopters unveiling their VRT500. A single engined, co-axial rotor design; from what we understand it is early in its design life, with the first flight tests in 2019 however, the models we have seen are indicative of a Bk-117, Jetranger, Kamov love child.
It has some impressive design parameters, boasting a 1,600kg MTOW, 5 place cabin, 225 km/h speed and 860km range. The machine is planned to be fully certified by the second quarter of 2021, when it will enter into both the Russian and international spheres.
